Simon, the American real estate developer and chief executive officer of Simon Property Group, died on March 22, 2026, at age 64. He was chairman and CEO of the Indianapolis-based company, an S&P 100 firm and the largest U.S.

publicly traded commercial real estate company. Born in August 1961, he was the son of real estate developer Melvin Simon and Bess Simon. He attended North Central High School, earned a B.S. degree from Indiana University in 1983 and an M.B.A. from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business in 1985. Simon began his career at First Boston and later worked at Wasserstein Perella & Co. as a vice president from 1988 to 1990.
