David McKinley, the American politician who served as a member of the U.S.
House of Representatives from 2011 to 2023, died on April 17, 2026, at age 79. Born in Wheeling, West Virginia, on March 28, 1947, he represented West Virginia’s 1st congressional district from 2011 to 2023.
A Republican, McKinley previously served in the West Virginia House of Delegates from 1980 to 1994 and chaired the West Virginia Republican Party from 1990 to 1994. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from Purdue University in 1970.
