Bryan Kelly, the English composer, conductor and pianist from Oxford, died on September 17, 2026, aged 92.
Born Bryan George Kelly on January 3, 1934, he studied at the Royal College of Music with Gordon Jacob and Herbert Howells after earlier lessons in Oxford, and later continued his training with Nadia Boulanger in Paris. He went on to teach at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and, from 1963, at the Royal College of Music.
Kelly’s work ranged from lighter orchestral pieces and brass band music to larger-scale orchestral, choral and church compositions, including his Symphony, the Concertante Dances and such suites as the Cuban Suite and the New Orleans Suite.
