
Birgit Collin-Langen, a German politician and Member of the European Parliament from 2012 to 2019, died on April 1, 2026, at the age of 69.
Born in Trier, Rhineland-Palatinate, West Germany, on September 4, 1956, she was a member of the Christian Democratic Union and the European People’s Party. She headed the department for legal affairs and human resources at the Investment and Economic Development Bank of Rhineland-Palatinate from 1993 to 1996, served as mayor of Bingen am Rhein from 1996 to 2012, and later sat as vice-president of the Congress of the Council of Europe.
In 2011, she was part of Julia Klöckner’s campaign team and served as shadow minister of justice and internal affairs.
