
Alexis Dipanda Mouelle, Cameroonian magistrate and president of the Supreme Court from 1990 to 2014, died on May 4, 2026, at age 84.
Born in Bonaléa on March 25, 1942, he earned a licentiate in law from the Federal University of Yaoundé and later received advanced law degrees from the University of Paris. Appointed a judge in 1965, he went on to serve as president of the Court of First Instance of Foumban in 1971.
He joined the Supreme Court in December 1986 and was named its president in May 1990. He retired in 2014 in a decree by President Paul Biya and was later replaced by Daniel Mekobe Sone.
