Abdul Jalil Mastan, an Indian politician and six-time Bihar MLA, died on September 12, 2026, aged 70.
A senior Indian National Congress leader, he served as minister of Registration, Excise and Prohibition in the Fifth Nitish Kumar ministry after the 2015 Bihar Legislative Assembly election. Mastan was elected six times to the Bihar Legislative Assembly from the Amour constituency, beginning in 1985, and was regarded as a political figure with a strong base in Bihar’s Kosi-Seemanchal region.
He lost the 2020 Bihar election to Akhtarul Iman, the Bihar state president of AIMIM.
