Zuenir Ventura, the Brazilian journalist and writer who became a longtime columnist for O Globo and Época, died on September 22, 2026, aged 95.
Born Zuenir Carlos Ventura in Além Paraíba, Minas Gerais, he built a career that ranged from newspaper reporting to magazine commentary and book-length reportage. Ventura won the Jabuti Prize in 1995 for Cidade Partida in the reportage category, and in 2009 his book 1968 – O que Fizemos de Nós placed third in the same category.
In 1989, he and fellow journalists at Jornal do Brasil received the Esso Journalism Award for their reporting on the investigation into the murder of Chico Mendes. He also studied at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
