
William Perry Flatt, an American animal and nutritional scientist, died on February 9, 2026.
He was 94. Born in Newbern, Tennessee, on June 17, 1931, he was the son of Carl Flatt.
He graduated as valedictorian of Trimble High School in 1948, attended Bethel College briefly, and later earned a BS in animal science from the University of Tennessee in 1952 and a PhD from Cornell University in 1955. Flatt served as a professor in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Georgia from 1969 to 2020 and was named D.W. Brooks distinguished professor in 1994.
