Lynton Wilson Canadian businessman dead at age 85

Lynton Wilson, a Canadian businessman, died on February 9, 2026, at the age of 85.

Lynton Ronald “Red” Wilson was a Canadian business executive who served as chairman of the board at Nortel and CAE, chief executive officer at BCE, and a corporate director of DaimlerChrysler. Born in Port Colborne, Ontario, he was educated at Port Colborne High School and earned an undergraduate degree from McMaster University before entering the foreign service.

After postings in Vienna and Japan, he became a teaching assistant at Cornell University, where he earned a master’s degree in economics. He later worked as corporate economist and director of economic research with John Labatt Ltd. and as co-ordinator of industrial research and development policy for the federal government.

Lynton Ronald “Red” Wilson OC (3 April 1940 – 9 February 2026) was a Canadian business executive. He served as chairman of the board at both Nortel and CAE, chief executive officer at BCE, and corporate director of DaimlerChrysler.
