Born in Odesa in 1956, he earned the grandmaster title in 1986 and became one of Ukraine’s leading players. Eingorn was a member of the Ukrainian team that won gold at the 2001 World Team Chess Championship, and he also represented Ukraine in several Chess Olympiads.

Earlier in his career, he twice won the Odesa city championship, in 1977 and 1979, and recorded notable results in Soviet and international tournaments, including a shared first place at Cappelle-la-Grande in 1986.
