Born on January 22, 1930, in Ağbulaq, he was also known as a translator, prose writer and literary scholar. Khanyan was a member of the Writers Union of Armenia and joined the USSR Writers’ Union in 1958.
He studied at the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University and later became a doctor of philology and professor.
