Timoteo Hikmat Beylouni, a Syrian-born Venezuelan Syriac Catholic hierarch who served as Apostolic Exarch of Venezuela for the Syriac Catholics, died on July 30, 2026, aged 80.
Born in Aleppo, Syria, on November 18, 1945, he entered the Seminary of Charfet in Lebanon for studies in philosophy and theology before continuing at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik. Ordained a priest for the Syriac Catholic Archeparchy of Aleppo in 1972, he went on to serve in pastoral work in Aleppo and Lebanon, including as a parish priest and a member of the patriarchal tribunal.
He moved to Venezuela in 1990 and later became Protosyncellus there before being appointed Apostolic Exarch in 2011, a post he held until his death.
