Donatille Mukabalisa, a Rwandan politician and former MP and senator, died on July 30, 2026, aged 66.
Born in Nyamata on July 30, 1960, she was elected Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies in 2013 after Rwanda’s national elections, becoming one of the country’s most prominent parliamentary figures. Mukabalisa was also designated a senator by the National Consultative Forum of Political Organisations in September 2024.
Before entering top parliamentary leadership, she taught law at Kigali Independent University and worked at the World Health Organization and the United Nations Development Programme.
