Sheikh Kabir Hossain, a Bangladeshi insurance executive and businessman, died on February 14, 2026.
He was president of the Bangladesh Insurance Association and also served as president of the Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh. Born in Gopalganj on 3 February 1942, he was a member of the Sheikh family of Tungipara.
Hossain completed his master’s degree from the University of Dhaka and later worked at the Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, the Bureau of Statistics and Sonali Bank before resigning from government service in 1975 after the assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Sheikh Kabir Hossain (Bengali: শেখ কবির হোসেন; 3 February 1942 – 14 February 2026) was a Bangladeshi businessman and a member of the Sheikh family of Tungipara. He was the President of Bangladesh Insurance Association. He served as President of Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh.
