Born in Sonoma, California, in 1969, she founded the Epicurean Connection in Sonoma and created Delice de la Vallee, along with other fresh cheeses. Davis also wrote Buttermonger.

She learned to cook from her grandfather, who served meals to farmers and ranchers at the Sonoma Grange every Friday. As a teenager, she apprenticed with M.F.K. Fisher and worked for Ig Vella. Davis credited Vella with teaching her about entrepreneurship and the role of food communities; he mentored her until his death in 2011. In 1988, Davis earned a degree in culinary arts from Santa Rosa Junior College. That year, a copy of the Commander’s Palace Cookbook sparked a lifelong interest in New Orleans cuisine and culture. She later interned at Commander’s Palace in New Orleans. Food writer Lolis Eric Elie described Davis as an expert in New Orleans food. Her career included cheesemaking, culinary work and education, alongside her interest in the food traditions of New Orleans.
