Sergei Tchepikov, the Russian politician, biathlete and cross-country skier, died on September 17, 2026, aged 59.
Born Sergei Vladimirovich Tchepikov in Khor, in what was then the Russian SFSR of the Soviet Union, he built a distinguished career in winter sports before entering politics. Tchepikov competed in six Winter Olympics, five in biathlon and one in cross-country skiing, and his final Olympic appearance came at Turin in 2006, where he won a silver medal in the 4 × 7.5 km relay.
His record also included two World Cup titles and 14 World Championship medals, along with awards from both the Soviet and Russian states.
