Seo Dong-wook, a South Korean politician and former mayor of Nam District in Ulsan, died on August 10, 2026, at age 63.
He served as the 5th, 7th and 8th mayor of Ulsan’s Nam District and was born in Ulsan in 1963. After graduating from Yangsa Elementary School, Daehyeon Middle School and Hakseong High School, he earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Ulsan in 1987.
Following military service in the South Korean Army, where he was discharged as a corporal in 1988, he later became active in youth organizations in the late 1990s, serving as president of the Ulsan chapter of the Junior Chamber in 1999 and as vice president of UNICEF Ulsan’s support association the same year.
