Borger Breeveld, the Surinamese actor and television director known for his work in film and broadcasting, died on August 10, 2026, aged 82.
Born in Paramaribo on July 20, 1944, he became one of Suriname’s better-known media figures, serving as media manager at the Surinamese Television Foundation (STVS) and later founding the Film Institute Paramaribo. Breeveld appeared in the 1976 Surinamese–Dutch film Wan Pipel as Roy Ferrol, and his career also included work as a journalist and television director.
In the 1980s, he served as spokesman for Desi Bouterse, and he remained connected to Surinamese film and television through institutional and on-screen roles.
