
René Henry Gracida, an American Roman Catholic prelate and bishop of Corpus Christi from 1983 to 1997 and of Pensacola–Tallahassee from 1975 to 1983, died on May 1, 2026.
He was 102. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on June 9, 1923, he later served as an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Miami from 1971 to 1975.
During World War II, Gracida flew 32 missions in the U.S. Army Air Corps before earning a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Houston and working as an architect for several years.
