Comunicaciones of Guatemala City, where he made his domestic league debut in 1955 and went on to play 14 seasons. During that spell, he helped the club win four league titles, one domestic cup and four Campeón de Campeones trophies, and he scored the championship-winning goal in Comunicaciones’ first league title in 1956. Contreras also represented Guatemala in two World Cup qualifying campaigns.
