He was a former Royal Thai Police officer and the father of Pakpilai Thavisin, a physician and the spouse of former Thai prime minister Srettha Thavisin. Born in Tha Chana District in Surat Thani Province, he studied at local schools there before attending the Armed Forces Academies Preparatory School and Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy.
He began his police career in 1943 and was appointed inspector at Chakrawat Police Station in Bangkok in 1945.
