Paul Deheuvels Probability, statistics dead at age 77

Paul Deheuvels, a French statistician and specialist in probability, died on January 30, 2026.

He was 77. Born in Istanbul, Turkey, on March 11, 1948, Deheuvels was a professor of mathematics at Pierre-et-Marie Curie University in Paris from 1974 to 2013, when he was appointed professor emeritus.

He taught probability and statistics and was elected a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics in 1985, a member of the French Academy of Sciences in 2000, and a member of the International Statistical Institute. He was also a foreign corresponding member of the Royal Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences of Spain.

Paul Deheuvels (11 March 1948 – 30 January 2026) was a French statistician and a specialist in probability.
