Oihane Mateos, a Spanish journalist who worked for EITB, died on August 8, 2026, aged 45.
Born in Ibarra in 1981, she began her career at Euskadi Irratia, the radio division of EITB, before moving into television as a presenter and journalist for Gaur Egun and Teleberri. She later directed ETB 2’s De boca en boca and, in 2022, was appointed head of EITB’s digital news service.
In that role, she oversaw the launch of the broadcaster’s digital news brand, Orain, in 2025.
