Nico de Haan, a Dutch birdwatcher and television presenter, died on February 11, 2026.
He was a Dutch conservationist, writer and radio and television presenter known for popularising birdwatching in the Netherlands. De Haan worked with Vogelbescherming Nederland and helped bring birdwatching to a wider audience through the broadcasting programmes Vroege Vogels and Baardmannetjes.
He was born in Aarlanderveen on July 22, 1947, spent much of his childhood in Zalk, and later completed training in land and nature management before briefly working as a miner in Canada.
