Mark Doyle, the British journalist and former BBC News world affairs correspondent, died on September 22, 2026, aged 67.
He was known especially for his reporting on Africa, beginning with volunteer teaching work at the British–Senegalese Institute in Dakar in 1980. Doyle later worked for Amnesty International and the London-based magazine West Africa before joining the BBC in 1986 as a producer on Focus on Africa.
He went on to report from several African countries and served as East Africa correspondent from 1993 to 1994. In 2004, he and producer Dan McMillan received a UNCA Excellence in Journalism Award for coverage of post-war Liberia under the UN peacekeeping mission.
