Marian Kasprzyk Polish welterweight boxer dead at age 86

Marian Kasprzyk, the Polish welterweight boxer who won Olympic gold and bronze medals, died on February 2, 2026.

Born Marian Krzysztof Kasprzyk on September 22, 1939, he competed at three Olympic Games and made his biggest mark on that stage. He won bronze in light welterweight at the 1960 Rome Olympics after defeating reigning champion Vladimir Jengibarian in the quarterfinals, then became Olympic champion in welterweight at Tokyo in 1964, despite breaking his thumb in the first round of the final against Ričardas Tamulis.

Marian Krzysztof Kasprzyk (22 September 1939 – 2 February 2026) was a Polish welterweight boxer. He competed at three Olympic games, winning a gold and bronze medal.
