Lina Brockdorff, a Maltese author, playwright and radio broadcaster, died on February 10, 2026.
She was born in Senglea on May 21, 1930, to Patrick and Mary Mahoney. Her early life was marked by the outbreak of World War II when she was nine, and her family moved several times during the war, living in Vittoriosa, Sliema, Dingli and Rabat.
Her education was interrupted by the conflict, but she returned to school after the war on her father’s insistence. Brockdorff later resumed her education in adult life.
