Leo Nowak, the German Roman Catholic prelate who served as apostolic administrator of Magdeburg from 1990 to 1994 and as bishop from 1994 to 2004, died on April 12, 2026, in Magdeburg, Germany, at the age of 97, following complications after surgery.

Born in Magdeburg on March 17, 1929, he was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Paderborn on May 10, 1956. He was appointed Apostolic Administrator of Magdeburg on February 12, 1990, and was later named the first bishop of the newly re-erected Diocese of Magdeburg, serving until 2004.
