Jonathan Meléndez, the Mexican keyboardist and composer known as Honas, died on September 1, 2026, aged 38.
Born Jonathan Samuel Meléndez Ochoa in Mexico City, he helped found the synth-pop group Camilo Séptimo in 2013 with Coe and Erik. With the band, he was credited on four studio albums — Óleos, Navegantes, Ecos and Jardín de las almas — as well as the EP Maya, and he received nominations at the IMAs for new artist and song of the year for “No confíes en mí” in 2015 and at the MTV MIAW Awards for video of the year for “Inevitable” in 2022.
He also contributed backing vocals in live performances and worked as a producer.
