He also served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1987 to 1995. Born Jon Llewellyn Kyl in Oakland, he studied at the University of Arizona’s James E. Rogers College of Law before practicing as an attorney and lobbyist in Phoenix. The son of John Henry Kyl, he later returned to lobbying after leaving the Senate.
