Hammond, an American blues singer and guitarist, died on February 28, 2026. Born John Paul Hammond in New York City on November 13, 1942, he was also known professionally as John Hammond and John Hammond Jr.
His career spanned six decades, from 1962 to 2026. Hammond was the son of record producer John Henry Hammond Jr. He performed in blues, rock and barrelhouse, and played guitar, vocals and harmonica. He died in Jersey City, New Jersey, at age 83.
