Jilke Michielsen, a Belgian racing cyclist, died on May 15, 2026, at the age of 19 after a battle with Ewing sarcoma.
Born on January 5, 2007, she won the Belgian National Road Race Championships in the rookie category in 2022 and finished eighth in the youth Tour of Flanders that same year. In 2023, she won the Belgian National Road Race Championships in the second-year category.
She was diagnosed with terminal Ewing sarcoma at the end of 2023 and continued her studies at the University of Antwerp while undergoing chemotherapy. The cancer returned in March 2025 and was later deemed incurable.
