Jon Phipps McCalla, an American judge, died on May 15, 2026, at age 79.

He was a senior United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee. McCalla was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on February 16, 1947.

He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tennessee in 1969, served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971 and reached the rank of lieutenant. He earned a Juris Doctor from Vanderbilt University Law School in 1974. Nominated by President George H. W. Bush in 1991, he was confirmed by the Senate in 1992 and later served as chief judge from 2008 to 2013.
