Jeff Smith, the English motorcycle racer inducted into the Hall of Fame for his achievements in motocross, died on March 21, 2026, aged 91.
Born Jeffrey Vincent Smith in Colne, Lancashire, England, on 14 October 1934, he competed in the Motocross World Championships from 1954 to 1969 as a member of the BSA factory racing team. His results included two FIM 500cc Motocross World Championships, in 1964 and 1965, two British Trials Championships, four individual race wins in the Motocross des Nations, one Scottish Six Days Trial win and eight ISDT Gold Medals.
He was appointed MBE in 1970 and was inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 2000.
