Jean Widmer, a Swiss graphic designer, died on February 2, 2026, at the age of 96 in Paris.

Born Hans Ulrich Widmer on March 31, 1929, in Frauenfeld, Thurgau, Switzerland, he studied at the Zurich School of Arts and Crafts before moving to France in the 1950s. He worked to revamp public signage and road infrastructure, and was among the first designers in France to make typography an element of his designs.

He also created the design of the Centre Pompidou logo.

Jean Widmer (born Hans Ulrich Widmer; 31 March 1929 – 2 February 2026) was a Swiss and French graphic designer.
