Gianfranco Pieri, an Italian basketball player, died on September 14, 2026, aged 89.
Born in Trieste in 1937, he played professionally from 1950 to 1970 and represented Italy at the 1960 and 1964 Summer Olympics, helping the national team finish fourth and fifth, respectively. Pieri was also a member of the FIBA European Selection in 1964 and won the 1965–66 FIBA European Champions Cup with Olimpia Milano.
In 2007, he was inducted into the Italian Basketball Hall of Fame.
