Born in Sarajevo on June 13, 1948, he studied at the Pedagogical Academy in Sarajevo, where he completed the Department of Art Education, and also pursued history of Yugoslav literatures at the Faculty of Humanities in Sarajevo. Active from the early 1970s, Numankadić was recognized with numerous awards and received France’s Order of Arts and Letters in 2021.
