Danny Hale (footballer) Northern Irish footballer (Dundalk dead at age 84

Danny Hale, the Northern Irish footballer who played as a forward, died on February 12, 2026.

Born Daniel Hale on 1 July 1941, he was a prolific goalscorer in the Irish League and the League of Ireland, becoming top scorer in each and netting more than 300 goals across a 13-season career. Raised in Carrick Hill in north Belfast, he played for St Malachy’s, Cranburn Stars, Lisnagarvey Strollers, Cliftonville, Glentoran, Crusaders, Dundalk, Derry City and Ards.

He made his senior debut for Cliftonville at Solitude on 15 August 1959 and later scored 55 times for Crusaders in the 1965–66 season, a club record.
