Charlie Williams, a Maltese footballer, died on May 1, 2026, at the age of 82.
Born on February 15, 1944, he learned to play football in the streets of Valletta and began organized soccer at age 10 with the Valletta Lilywhites in the Valletta youth league. He entered Stella Maris College at 11 and regularly represented the school’s top team.
Williams was later discovered by Valletta FC officials at the Independence Arena and joined the club at 13. By 16, he was captain of the Valletta FC minors team and also played regularly for the under-21 and reserves sides.
