Born Anna Maria Torv in Glasgow, Scotland, on June 30, 1944, she later became the second wife of media mogul Rupert Murdoch and served as a director at News Corp. She was born to Jakob Tõrv, an Estonian merchant seaman, and Sylvia Iris Bodfish, a Scottish drycleaner’s shop assistant, and was raised in Australia after her family emigrated there.
