Born in Rio de Janeiro on April 26, 1963, he also worked as a curator and editor, organizing more than 80 exhibitions on fine arts and the history of literature and overseeing selected and complete editions of major Portuguese-language authors including Camões, Fernando Pessoa, Mário de Sá-Carneiro, Almada Negreiros, Gonçalves Dias, Álvares de Azevedo and Machado de Assis. Between 1999 and 2002, he directed INEPAC, the cultural heritage institute of Rio de Janeiro, and he was a member of PEN Club of Brazil.
