B. Porter, an American Hall of Fame bulldogger and calf roper, died on June 13, 2026.
He was 99. Born T. Barrett Porter on March 9, 1927, in Pineville, Louisiana, he began roping calves, riding and training animals at his family’s ranch at age 5. By about 16, he was competing in rodeo events. In 1948, he won the bulldogging event at the Lions Club Rodeo in Alexandria, Louisiana, and in 1949 he was named calf roping champion at Madison Square Garden in New York. That same year he also competed at the World Rodeo in Boston, and in 1959 he took part in the National Finals Rodeo in Dallas. He was recognized as a member of the National Rodeo Hall of Fame.
