Stepan Kubiv dead at age 64, Ukrainian politician, first deputy prime minister and chairman of the national bank

Stepan Kubiv, a Ukrainian politician who served as first deputy prime minister from 2016 to 2019 and as chairman of the National Bank in 2014, died on May 18, 2026.

He was 64. Kubiv also served as acting chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine and as first vice prime minister and minister of economic development and trade from April 2016 to August 2019.

Born on March 19, 1962, in Mshanets, in the Ukrainian SSR, he graduated from Lviv State University named after Ivan Franko in 1984 and from Lviv Polytechnic in 2002.
