Widely known as Siti Hasmah and respectfully called Ibu Negara, or Mother of the Nation, she was born Hasmah binti Mohamad Ali in Klang on July 12, 1926. She was married to Mahathir Mohamad and was the prime minister’s spouse from 1981 to 2003 and again from 2018 to 2020.
