Serigne Ibrahima Mahmoud Cissé, a Senegalese teacher and religious guide, died on May 18, 2026.
He was 73–74. Born in 1952, Cissé taught traditional Arab and Islamic traditions in Senegalese schools in a role known as daara.
He served as the traditional school leader in the rural community of Diamal, where he taught in a Majlis. Throughout his career, he was also noted as a poet and religious mentor, and he taught numerous ulama across West Africa.
