Salih Muslim, a Syrian-Kurdish politician, died on March 11, 2026.
He served as co-chairman of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), the main party of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES), and played a key role in its establishment. As deputy coordinator of the National Coordination Committee for Democratic Change, he was for much of the Syrian civil war the most prominent Kurdish representative.
Born on March 3, 1951, in Kobanî, Aleppo Governorate, Syria, he was also a chemical engineer.
