Born in Brno on March 13, 1949, he studied medicine at Masaryk University in the city after completing secondary school at Gymnázium Lerchova. He went on to work in ear, nose and throat medicine at Brno’s university hospital, eventually leading its otorhinolaryngology department and later serving as professor of medicine.
Kostřica also entered public life as a member of the Chamber of Deputies from 2010 to 2017 and served on the Brno-střed district council from 2014 to 2016 as a member of TOP 09. His medical career included published monographs, lectures and research papers, along with work on professional grant projects and roles in specialist medical organizations.
