Born on May 11, 1930, in Saalfeld, he studied at the Gotha technical school for construction after first training as a bricklayer, later working as an engineer and project planner in Berlin. Korn became known for significant projects including the State Council building, the Hotel Stadt Berlin, and the Berlin-Marzahn housing estate.
After 1990, he continued to work as a freelance architect before withdrawing from active building work in 1998.
