Richard Bozulich Writer, publisher dead at age 90

Richard Bozulich

Richard Bozulich, an American Go player, author, publisher and college math instructor, died on March 9, 2026, at age 90.

He co-founded Ishi Press and was the founding publisher of Kiseido Publishing Co., which produced Go books in English. Bozulich worked with several Japanese professional players and wrote a regular Go column for The Daily Yomiuri, then Japan’s largest English-language newspaper.

He also taught mathematics at Shonan Institute of Technology until 2005 and lived in Chigasaki, Japan.

Richard Bozulich (January 21, 1936 – March 9, 2026) was an American author, publisher of Go books in English and college math instructor.
