Renato Machado, a Brazilian journalist and longtime TV Globo newscaster, died on July 16, 2026.

Born in Rio de Janeiro on March 21, 1943, he studied law and journalism at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro before beginning his career in radio in 1970. Over a career that spanned nearly four decades, Machado worked for the BBC, Jornal do Brasil and Rede Manchete, and became familiar to Brazilian viewers as editor-in-chief and anchorman of Bom Dia Brasil from 1996 to 2011.

He also presented Jornal da Globo from 1982 to 1983. He died in Rio de Janeiro.
